Today I went to the gym for the first time in a while. I am slightly scared of my gym but I think this is a good thing because everyone there is actually an athlete so I can’t be messing around. Armed with my APPLEWATCH and earphones, I did 20 minutes on the StairMaster(TM) which killed me, to say the least. I did one of their silly routines which involves lunging and doing 2 steps up and 1 down which was not as good as the Olivia Rodrigo song. After that my legs felt suitably warm (probably dripping with sweat but I couldn’t feel that through my thermal leggings…) so I thought about doing some stretching or weights and then immediately decided that would be too scary so I went on the treadmill. 1 minute easy 1 minute fast for 20 mins. Turns out this wasn’t actually what was in the training plan, which was to do 1 minute easy pace and 1 minute Tempo pace (I think this means the aspirational pace). Instead I just sprinted for a minute which really wasn’t that fast by anybody else’s standards. Anyway I felt good after but sooooo sweaty. Note to self: just because it is snowing and really cold outside doesn’t mean the indoor gym will be the same temperature.
I also went back to uni after to practise which I didn’t do for very long because I was really hungry. I’m toying with going to a pilates class tomorrow to make up for the strength and conditioning day I missed but I probably won’t because I’m worried I need a yoga mat or something.
Also, just so you’re up to date, I totally did not miss the first 3 days of my first week because of an essay. I did the first day (30 minutes “easy”(???) run). But yeah I didn’t do Tuesday’s strength and conditioning and Wednesday was luckily a rest day. I might do some light s+c tomorrow because I currently have no idea how I’m doing an “easy” 70 minute run on Saturday AND a strength and conditioning… and revising… and going to Erin’s birthday dinner…
I’m giving up revising now and will plan what I’m going to do tomorrow. Will try and leave the house earlier and pray for no more power cuts and burglar alarms. I did 2 lots of laundry today! Just called my mum and she gave me a great idea for dinner which I can’t really be bothered for but it sounds nice so I’m gonna have a go. Hope you have fun at Michael’s!!
