Hello :) Today felt like my first real day for a while and it felt good. I had scrambled eggs for breakfast and went for my cello lesson which was helpful and very nice to see my teacher again. Then I bumped into Hudi in the foyer and sat for a while chatting as we haven’t seen each other in over a month! We are getting coffee tomorrow :) I then went to the gym where I did my first proper strength workout! It was really fun and chill and is probably the first time I’ve ever worked out my arms (more on that later).
Here’s what I did:
Stairmaster (because 3 of the treadmills were out of order!! And the rest were full. So this machine has the best (highest and closest) view of the treadmills so I waited for 10 mins until I saw somebody hit ‘cooldown’ and finish their workout then was over there faster than a frog.
Treadmill - so after all this scouting and drama about not having a treadmill I realised I didn’t actually want to run that much. Because of my dillydallying in the foyer it was now around 2.30pm and I hadn’t had lunch so I did struggle to run - I wasn’t wearing my favourite shoes either and basically just felt really heavy. I did about 20 minutes of running/walking on an incline of about 5, and attempted a few minute-long intervals.
MACHINEWOMAN - OK I went over to stretch (I’m slowing hyping myself up to use the dumbbell weights so the first step of that is being able to sit on a mat for a bit which I achieved today) then realised I don’t know any stretches. Does sitting cross-legged count? Anyway then I tried the shoulder press machine for the first time. IT WAS SO HARD MY ARMS ARE SO WEAK BUT I BET I’M REALLY MUSCLY NOW. I did a whole 7.5kg (BARELY. IT WAS SUCH A STRUGGLE MAN) and did 3 reps of like 8 but I probably counted the last set as 1 2 3 4 8! Did I mention how hard this was? My arms were fizzy and shaking when I got home. I didn’t do the leg abductions because they hurt from yesterday but finally after years of waiting THE LEGGPRESS3000 WAS AVAILABLE!!!! So I scooted my booty right over there. I like this one because you just basically lie down. Anyway I was messing about seeing what would be a good weight for me (I landed on 40kg as it was doable but still hard) and wanted to see how high I could go. Anyway I’m basically a bodybuilder because I DID 100KG (I even looked up the machine to check it was definitely in kilos) for one entire rep. So yeah I’m a bigman basically. I decided not to try more than one rep because I was genuinely concerned my spindly legs were going to snap (though obviously they’re not that spindly because I can leg press 100KG… I actually don’t know if this is average or not I’m gonna google it. Ok I’ve googled - it is a lot higher than 1.5x my bodyweight which they recommend for beginners. Ok according to strengthlevel.com female lifters’ average leg press weight is 117kg so I’m basically A BODYBUILDER THIS IS MY DREAMMMMMMMMMMKKKKKKLMMMMMM).
Side note: In my head I did a lot more machines than this but clearly I was just really excited about the singular leg press and hyped myself into oblivion.
OH I FORGOT I WENT SWIMMING AFTER!!!! My new swimsuit FITS MEEEEEEEEEEE (it is a little more snug than I remember swimsuits feeling but that’s probably because I am slightly more large in places compared to when I was 11) and I really like it. I wanted to do 30 minutes and I did 30 minutes whoo. I was quite tired and hungry so mainly did breaststroke (spelling this feels weird) and a few interjections of front crawl though that winded me. Swimming is so hard. Anyway I had a good time and washed my hair and all. I broke my claw clip when I dropped it (twice) trying to use it as a hairbrush. Oh well.
Then I got the bus to Lidl and bought lots of vegetables because MY SALAD CHOPPER BOX ARRIVED EEEEEEEEEEE! But I bought the biggest cabbage known to woman because I thought it was priced per item (it was per kilo… it was over £1) and lots of other vegetables which I need to eat before they go off probably tomorrow. I already had my tote bag with swimming and gym stuff in it then had to buy a bag (:0) for my trillion vegetables then walk to the Amazon locker where my salad chopper was delivered to and carry this huge box and 2 bags home. The workout really never stops (I had to stop and regroup multiple times because I swear the walk back home was at least 6x longer than usual). Anyway came home had lunch/dinner and just sat for ages. I’m really sleepy. Tomorrow I probably will struggle to run 18-20km because I’m going to ache but I’ll give it a crack. Also I ordered a nice dress for Valentine’s Day! #datenight#dinner#food I’m very excited and I hope it fits because I can’t return it because it’s from vinted <3.
